PaperToolsPro was created through the partnership of ePen&Inc and M3Designs, Inc.
ePen&Inc is owned by Dorothy Mikuska (B.A. in English, Loyola University; M.A. in English, Northwestern University; and C.A.S. in Educational Leadership and Supervision, National Lewis University). As an English department chair for 10 years and a classroom teacher for 36 years, she has taught high school students of all levels—regular, honors, and Advanced Placement—how to write research papers. Also, she established computer labs for English departments and created curricula for teachers to use in their writing instruction. Based on these experiences, PaperToolsPro was designed to help students develop the literacy skills–reading, thinking, researching, and writing–needed to write good research papers. Ideas for this program also came from several of her students who have attended various universities throughout the country.
M3Designs, Inc. is owned by Ronald Slatin (B.A. in Chemistry, Knox College; M.S. in Information Science, University of Chicago). As a Research Associate / Programmer for the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, he has developed software for realtime data acquisition, analysis and processing techniques for the Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) in Pulmonary Diseases. He then developed software for nurse interviewers to use to run these tests and subsequently trained them in its use. He was also a principal developer of an automated program to interpret blood gases in conjunction with pulmonary function test results. This program was used to train medical students and provide results and interpretations to attending physicians at University Medical Center.
